What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent extensions that enhances one’s eye-beauty in terms of fullness, length and curliness. The material used for eyelash extensions typically revolves around mink, synthetic or horse hair. At DR. LASH, we use premium mink lash to glue on your eyelashes.

Lashes come in different lengths, thickness, and curls. It makes your eyes appear wider and more prominent. It comes in various lengths, curls, and thickness. If you are confused, don’t worry. Our lash experts will assist you in selecting your preferred lash style, length and shape to achieve your desired look.

How Eyelash Extensions Work?

Eyelash extensions are applied on your natural lashes one at a time using a specially formulated, semi-permanent glue that is kind to your eyes and the natural lash. Every single eyelash has their own growth cycle, hence they don’t fall out all at the same time. When you have extensions, they will fall out together with your lashes that are already shedding. The eyelash extensions would usually last for about 3 to 4 weeks or longer, depending on various factors. Although some women do it every week, most people get fill-ins every three weeks to maintain their eyelash extensions.

Here at DR. LASH, the health of our customers’ own natural eyelashes will always remain our top priority. This is why our therapists are trained to be able to differentiate how a healthy, new grown, or damaged eyelash looks like and will be able to advise the next best course of action accordingly.

What are the different styles of eyelash extensions?

Eyelash Extensions comes in various forms. Here at DR. LASH, we have five different styles of eyelash extensions using premium mink lash.

First is Au Natural style; uses thicker strands of lashes (0.12mm/0.15mm) to enhance your original lash while keeping the natural look.

Second option is The Doll; which strikes the perfect balance between natural and voluminous eyelashes, achieving the best of both worlds.

Third option is The Diva; that gives you the fullest lash line and with the eyeshadow effect.

Our fourth option is The Scarlet, a playful combination of short and long lashes to achieve the subtle sexy look.

The fifth option is The Kim K; an alternate blend between long and short eyelash extensions, giving off the wispy effect.

How to take care when you have eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are delicate like your natural lashes and should be handled with care. It is important not to wash them or take hot baths for the first 1 to 2 days as it may cause the adhesive of eyelash extension to weaken, causing your eyelash extensions to drop. Avoid touching the eyelash extensions or rubbing your eyes, instead comb them upwards with a spoolie to keep them dirt-free while maintaining its curl.

Always use oil-free cleansers or makeup removers to prevent weakening of the adhesive. It is recommended to apply the lash serum after the first week to strengthen and nourish your natural lashes. Lastly… Clean them with our lash cleansing foam once or twice weekly.

How much do the eyelash extensions cost?

The cost of your eyelash extensions generally depends on a few variables, namely, the salon location, the experience of the eyelash therapist, quality of products used, environment, and overall customer experience! General rule of thumb would be that the voluminous eyelash extensions would usually cost more than the natural lash extension series, as it requires weeks of training to learned this skill, and months of training to master it.

On average, a set of eyelash extension can range from $100 to $300 based on your personalized experience provided by the expert eyelash extension salons. Here at DR. LASH, we give you the freedom of customizing your length, curl and shape at no extra cost, and we offer unlimited strands for any service that you choose! Lash Lift

lash lift - eyelash extensions

Continuing from our previous post about the GRANDE LASH SERUM, I do now hope that you’ve achieved longer and fuller lashes, but what’s next?

It is common for Asian girls to have droopy lashes which mascara sometimes cannot even fix! If your lashes lack curl or if you prefer not having eyelash extensions, a lash perm may be the next most suitable option for you. Imagine how much time and effort you can save if you could wake up to naturally curled lashes! For this, DR. LASH has the perfect solution for you – the LASH LIFT.

Using only premium products from Korea and Taiwan, our Lash Lift takes about 1 hour and lasts approximately a month (subjected to individual’s lash condition). Our LASH LIFT process is a mild and safe procedure that is not harmful to your own lashes. Unlike many other salons, we do not use strong chemicals that will cause your lashes to turn fizzy and weak.

Our treatment comprises of 3 steps.

First, using an antibacterial foam cleanser, your eye area will be thoroughly cleansed and disinfected to prepare your lashes for the next step.

Secondly, a perming solution will be applied gently to your lashes with a tiny brush. Depending on your preference for either a natural or dramatic curl, our therapist will use a “curling rod” to perm your lashes to achieve your desired look. The perming solution will be applied for 2-3 rounds, every 10 minutes. To improve absorption of the solution, a plastic wrap will be placed on the lashes too.

Lastly, the “curling rod” is removed, your lashes are cleansed and a layer of conditioning cream is applied to strengthen the lashes.

The final product is a naturally curled set of eyelashes that make your eyes look brighter and bigger. The most enticing benefit of our LASH LIFT is that it takes almost no effort to take care of and it makes applying mascara so much easier. Enjoy this treatment at only $88 (U.P 108) if this is your first visit by quoting “LASHLIFT88”!

eyelash extension Singapore - lash lift

This post is particularly important for people who are new to eyelash extensions! Our customers often ask us about the SHOULD and SHOULD NOTs after their sessions to ensure that their eyelash extensions stay clean and last as long as possible. Below are a few tips on how to take good care of your eye area post-appointment!

  • Try your best to keep them dry for the first 24 – 48 hours after your appointment. Avoid swimming/ sauna/ hot showers during this period.
  • Avoid using oil-based makeup removers around your eye area; micellar cleansing water is your best friend!
  • Use cleansing foam and a brush to cleanse the eyelashes and allow them to last longer – you can purchase a set at our DR.LASH outlets for only $28/-
  • Comb your eyelash extensions regularly with a spoolie

  • Rub your eye area harshly
  • Sleep on your face
  • Use oil-based products around your eye area
  • Mascaras are strongly not recommended; a mascara/eyeliner effect can be achieved solely with eyelash extensions (check out our DOLL, DIVA and AVANT GARDE series)
  • Do not attempt to remove/pull out the extensions on your own; always visit the salon for a proper removal session where the extensions can be removed safely without harming your natural lashes

Our patient and meticulous therapists will always remind our customers again on these important tips during and after the sessions so feel free to ask them anything if you have questions. Hope to see you soon! 🙂

How Long Can Eyelash Extensions Last For?

How Long Does Eyelash Extensions Last For?

Are you contemplating on whether to get eyelash extensions but worried about how soon it’ll drop off? How long eyelash extensions can last on a person varies, due to several reasons such as the products used, the skills of the therapists, and the aftercare given. If everything is done right, it then all boils down to just one factor, the growth cycle of your own natural lashes.

Just like the hair on your head, your natural lashes go through 3 stages of growth, so seeing some lash loss is all part of the normal growth cycle.

Eyelash Growth Cycle

Anagen (Growth) Phase

Also known as the growth phase, the anagen phase is the period when your eyelashes are actively growing, and lasts between 30 and 45 days. Only about 40 percent of the upper lashes and 15 percent of the lower lashes are in the anagen phase at any one time. Each lash will grow to a specific length and then stop.

Catagen (Transition) Phase

The catagen phase is also known as the transition phase. During this phase, the lash stops growing and the shrinking of the hair follicle happens. If an eyelash falls out or is plucked out during this phase, it won’t grow back right away because the follicle needs to complete the catagen phase before it can move on to the next one. This phase lasts between two to three weeks.

Telogen (Resting) Phase

Known as the resting phase, the telogen phase can last more than 100 days before the eyelash falls out and a new one begins to grow. Because each individual lash is in its own phase of the growing cycle, it’s normal for a few lashes to fall out most days. It typically takes between four and eight weeks to fully replace an eyelash.

It’s therefore important to understand that it’s perfectly normal for your eyelashes to drop. However, proper cleansing of your lashes is also imperative to the shelf life of eyelash extensions. Proper care will help to keep them clean and remove excess oils from make-up or surrounding skin areas.  Facial oils can also break down the bonds and integrity of the extension and can cause early extension separation.
